    Yes, this course is 100% on-line and you can go at your own pace.

  • Is this course a certification? Will I become a certified "Navigator"?

    No. This is not a certification program, and you will not become a certified healthcare professional. The course provides practical, educational guidance only. Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion to acknowledge your learning, but you will not be licensed or certified to practice medicine or provide legal advice.

  • Who is this course for?

    It is for family members or close friends and caregivers who want to support someone they love during a hospital stay. You do not need any medical or legal background. If you want to be a calm, informed, and persistent presence for a patient, this course is for you.

  • Does this course teach me how to fight with doctors and nurses?

    Absolutely not. One of the core principles of this course is that you are on there to fight. You will learn how to communicate respectfully, ask clarifying questions, and escalate concerns through proper channels. The goal is to be a bridge, not a barrier.

  • I live in a different province /state. Will this information apply to me.

    Yes. While the specific phone numbers and ombudsman offices vary, the core principles- patients rights, communication tools, documentation, recognizing common harms like sepsis, and discharge planning apply across all hospitals. We also provide guidance on how to find your local resources.

  • How long will the course take?

    You can watch them at your own pace, on any device. You will have access to it review the material at any time you need it. There are reminders cards you can print out or download that area helpful. The information is split in to 16 short, focused chapters and easy to learn taking the average person about 1hour and 30 minutes.

  • I am a healthcare worker. Will this course teach me anything new?

    Possibly. While the content is designed for family members, many nurses and social workers have told us they appreciate learning what families are being taught. It can help you understand a Navigator's role and improve collaboration, particularly for your family. Although this is a not clinical training course it should benefit healthcare workers and paralegals as well.
